Diagnosis
Dichotomous axes bearing linear sterile leaves and a terminal sterile shoot or a terminal megasporangiate strobilus. Sterile leaves persistent or deciduous. Leaf cushions rhomboidal and leaf bases oblanceolate in shape, helically arranged in parastichies on wide axes. Leaf cushion with an oval–oblanceolate leaf scar in the middle part, a vertical ridge in the lower part, and a ligule pit near the upper part of leaf scar.Megasporophylls helically arranged, comprising a pedicel with a keel and alations, a heel and an upturned lamina tapering distally. Alations equal to or wider than megasporangium. Megasporangium ellipsoidal, sessile and borne singly and closely on adaxial surface of pedicel. Lagenicula-type megaspores.
