Diagnosis
Plant with an erect robust main stem (?trunk) and helically arranged lateral branches which are more closely spaced distally giving the apex a tufted appearance. Many bifurcated roots radiate from the base of the main stem. Lateral branches undivided or dichotomous, bearing more or less helically arranged, ultimate units of determinate growth. Ultimate units dichotomously divided and Ihree-dimensional; first dichotomy at 90' to long axis of subtcnding lateral branch, giving two superposed unequal parts; general outline ofthe ultimate unit asymmetrically triangular. Lateral branches wholly vegetative or with a fertile zone below a vegetative apex. Fertile ultimate units similar to vegetative ones, dividing also into two unequal parts but with main axis and dichotomizing lateral divisions distinguishable in each of the two parts; fertile tips recurved, supporting pairs of pendulous, 'fusiform sporangia; dehiscence of sporangia along onc longitudinal line on facing sides of a sporangial pair. Spores unknown. Anatomy unknown.
