- Diagnosis
- Primary axis elongated with bracts arranged in two or four orthostichies. Bract axils containing solitary orthotropous seeds (Carpolithes). At seed base there may be vestigial scales of axillary complex. Axillary complexes at the apex of the primary axis may be represented by a short axis on which scaly appendages are arranged helically.
