Bract-axillary complexes arranged in four orthostichies; vascular bundles departing from the narrow ends of a central cylinder. Axillary complex consisting of a short axis on which numerous scaly appendages are arranged helically; terminal scales fertile, with sporangia arranged in one row at distal end. Sporangia elongated, without a specialized dehiscence-mechanism or with a longitudinal dehiscence slit.
