Primary axis elongated, acuminate towards apex, bilaterally symmetrical, consisting of a flattened endarch-exarch cylinder of primary wood; metaxylem components grading into narrow band of secondary wood; central cylinder surrounded by thin walled parenchyma containing resin canals and subepidermal strands. Bract-axillary complexes arranged in four orthostichies; vascular bundles departing from the narrow ends of a central cylinder. Axillary complex consisting of a short axis on which numerous scaly appendages are arranged helically; terminal scales fertile, with sporangia arranged in one row at distal end. Sporangia elongated, without a specialized dehiscence-mechanism or with a longitudinal dehiscence slit. Pollen large, monosaccate, with a distinct proximal slit; of Fellixipollenites or Sullisaccites type.
