Leaves are ovate to elliptic, unlobed, and pinnately veined, with the petiole markedly swollen near the insertion point, a basally thickened midvein, and toothed margins. Teeth are large, irregularly spaced and sized, and often compound; principal veins are medial and terminate in a large apical gland.
