Diagnosis
Leaves medium sized to large, petiolate; petiole slender, often geniculate. Lamina variable in shape, ovate to broadly ovate, slightly asymmetrical, simple; apex bluntly acute, rarely acuminate; base rounded to truncate to subcordate, rarely cordate; margin entire, exceptionally dentate. Primary venation actinodromous, three to five primaries, symmetrically disposed, inner lateral giving off dense abmedial secondaries and reaching about halfway toward the apex; outer laterals thin, if present, running parallel with the margin. Secondary venation brochidodromous, exceptionally mixed craspedodromous; median secondaries usually in four to eight pairs, the lower widely spaced, subopposite or alternate, looping along the margin; intercostal tertiaries week, random reticulate, often forked, forming with the quaternaries' polygonal meshes. Areoles well developed; veinlets none or simple, if present.
