- Plant with leafless axes that bifurcate pseudomonopodially to give first-order laterals. Axes bear longitudinal ribs. Xylem cylinder circular, comprising centrarch primary xylem and peripheral secondary xylem. Rays present. Tracheids with scalariform bordered pits with overlay of an additional
perforate sheet of secondary wall material (P-type tracheid). Single outer cortical layer comprising thick-walled cells.
