Diagnosis
Tree with dense wood consisting of tracheids and parenchymatous ray cells. Secondary tracheids relatively homogenous in shape and size in cross section. Bordered pits on radial walls arranged contiguously in uniseriate, occasionally biseriate, alternate rows. Pits not occupying the entire tracheid width; either circular or flattened in the contact zone with the neighbouring pits above and below; with a circular pit aperture. Rays uniseriate, less commonly partly biseriate; mostly short, but possibly exceeding 10 cells in height. Ray cells procumbent, with resin contents. Cross field pits 1–4, rarely 5, small and round, with an oval to circular aperture.
