- Fossil conifer cone, ellipsoid, constructed of more than 12
bract-scale complexes arranged in whorls of three. Bract-scale complex peltate and
with bristle-like projection of bract apex. Erect seed on adaxial side of bract-scale
complex. Vascular trace to bract-scale complexes cylindrical at base, then divided
into many free bundles arranged in reniform with abaxial invagination. Resin canals
in cortex of cone axis, in abaxial and adaxial tissue of bract-scale complexes, in
abaxial tissue of scale region and in bristle-like projection. Fairly abundant fibers in
fundamental tissue of bract-scale complex. Hypodermis fibrous.
