Diagnosis
Herbaceous or shrub-like plants with multiple branched axes and sympodial-dichasial growth, articulated slender stems with a striate surface and swollen nodes, bearing megaphyllous leaves in opposite-decussate phyllotaxis; reproductive units consist of a triple structure on multiple axillary short branches, each triplet carrying two lateral dichasial orbiculate ovulate structures with two pairs of scales and a central basket-shaped microsporangiate structure.
