- Primary axis elongated, flattened or isodiametric in cross-section. Stele of primary axis more or less bilaterally symmetrical, centrarch to endarch. Vascular bundles of bracts and secondary axes departing from narrow ends of the vascular cylinder of the primary axis. Bract-axillary complexes arranged in four orthostichies, in two ranks or helically (?). Axillary complex consisting of a short axis on which numerous (up to 100) scaly appendages are arranged in a compact helix. The up to 40 terminal scales are fertile. Some sporangiophores may occur amongst sterile scales closer to the axillary complex base. Sporangiospores unbranched or apically once forked. At each end of sporangiophores are 2 3 bunches of sporangia (up to 6). Sporangia in bunches basically fused, elongate, with a longitudinal dehiscence slit. Pollen monosaccate, of Florinites type.
