- Thallus-forming carbonaceous sheets with a smooth outer surface and a pseudocellular patterning of raised ridges on the inner surface, bearing occasional elliptical apertures. Inner surface of carbonaceous sheetspopulated by close-packed filaments that each terminate in the center of a pseudocellular unit, constituting a pseudoparenchymatous habit; filaments surrounding apertures more taphonomically recalcitrant than others
