- Flowers actinomorphic, pedicellate flowers;
flowers solitary in leaf axils; receptacle flattened, bearing free tepals
externally; tepals obovate; androecium possibly spirally arranged,
consisting of numerous narrow, entire margined staminodes bearing
embedded glands; stamens unknown; several carpels free, possibly spirally
arranged, conduplicate; ovule number unknown; fruit consisting
of free fruitlets, walls woody. Leaves alternate, simple, sessile, sheathing,
symmetrical; margin entire; primary venation pinnate, secondary
venation brochidodromous, tertiary venation mixed percurrent; leaves
coriaceous; stomata paracytic, stomatal distribution hypostomatic.
