- Diagnosis
- Stem with ribbed cortex, without leaf scars, 4
mm in mean diameter. Pith excentric small parenchymatic,
0,012 mm in diameter. Protoxylem composed of 4 vessels
arranged in a cross, with a mean diameter of 187 μm,
with annular thickenings. Secondary wood with diffuse
porosity and growth ring boundary absent. Vessels in
transversal section radially arranged, with oval to circular
outline, with 152 μm mean radial diameter and a 3 μm
thickness wall. They are solitary or multiple, bi-, tri- and
tetraseriate. In longitudinal section they are rectilinear to
sinuous. Simple pitting and simple perforation plates.
Axial parenchyma is vasicentric and scanty. Rays are heterocellular,
multiseriate, large and with a mean length of
1,7 mm, they correspond to the Type I of Kribs. Vascular
cylinder surrounded by cambium; phloem masses well developed
containing sclerenchyma.
