- Polyxylic stem with a small parenchymatous pith, with
mucilage canals, transfusion cells and medullary vascular bundles. The
cylindrical vascular system with concentric rings of centrifugal secondary
xylem and phloem toward the outside, and a centripetal vascular
ring. Secondary xylem with distinct growth rings. The centripetal
vascular ring and the first centrifugal one divided into eight vascular
segments, separated by parenchymatous zones. Pits on radial walls of
secondary xylem tracheids araucaroid, cross-field with one or more
pits. Secondary rays uniseriate or multiseriate and up to 750 μm wide
with mucilage canals and transfusion cells. Phloem consisting of parenchyma
cells and sieve cells.
