Diagnosis
Cells with granular to coarsely granular surface texture. Small inner bodies occasionally present. Outer spheroid irregular in shape, varies from elliptical to spheroidal. Necking occurs in some specimens as if a budding process was possible. Some specimens have a lid-like aperture (similar to the operculum of many dinoflagellate and acritarch species). The cells are solitary and not associated with an organic matrix.
