- Leaf pinnate ; pinnae lanceolate , entire-margined , alternate to opposite
, base of pinna slightly contracted , symmetrical , apex acutely pointed .
Veins typically 2 – 3 per mm , simple or dichotomising , ending at margins of
pinna . Adaxial cuticle bearing usually polygonal cells with tightly sinuous
anticlinal walls . Abaxial cuticle showing a distinct marginal band with elongate
tetragonal cells sometimes with reduced stomata , orientated longitudinally to
pinna-margin ; anticlinal walls finely sinuous . Inner region of abaxial cuticle with
costal and intercostal bands . Intercostal files display stomata in ill-defined rows ;
syndetocheilic (paracytic) , orientated transversely or obliquely to leaf-margin .
Subsidiary cells large , semicircular , thickly cutinised . Ordinary cells irregular in
shape , each bearing one or more prominent , hollow papillae . Subsurface bodies
form rows . Costal cells elongate , each bearing one or more prominent , hollow
papillae .
