- Diagnosis
- Fragment of a cone showing cutinized
oblong microsporophylls bearing microsporangia. Cuticle
of microsporophyll having two layers of approximately
the same thickness, with polygonal to
isodiametric cells. Anticlinal walls straight, occasionally
pitted. Stomata densely distributed, placed in rows.
Stomatal apparatus haplocheilic, polycyclic. Mouth of
stoma subcircular. Subsidiary cells slightly papillate, 9
to 10. Guard cells sunken and thickened around mouth.
Occasional trichome bases present. Microsporangia
subcircular to elongate, compactly placed, not forming
sori. Membrane delicate and smooth. Pollen grains
monocolpate up to 34 Am long and 28 Am wide,
circular to subcircular in polar view. Exine smooth,
with basal laminated layer and alveolate ektexine.
Orbicules abundant.
