Diagnosis
Fairly large spheroidal to obovate gyrogonites with pointed to narrowly rounded bases, broadly rounded summits, and wide (100/*) spirals. Gyrogonites range in length from 650/* to 800/A and in width from 500/A to TOO/A. Spirals wide; on most specimens ridges cellular and gently convex; on some specimens ridges intercellular, low and narrow, and separated by wide, shallow cellular furrows; on a few specimens spirals develop small regularly spaced knots about 100/A from center to center. Spirals ascend in a little less than two complete turns and distally turn onto somewhat flattened summit to meet in center along a wavy line or in a point slightly raised above general surface. Spiral walls thick along sides, from 50/u, to 100/A, thinning to about half that thickness on summit. Spiral ridges in a side view normally 9, a few specimens with 8 and some with 10.
