- Diagnosis
- Polysperm axis 2-4 cm long. Apical 1-2.3 cm length of axis expanded (2.5-3.5 mm wide). Seed stalks arranged in regular orthostichies. Seed-bearing part of axis grading basally into a ribbed peduncle 1.3-1.6 cm length and 1.1-2.0 mm wide. Ribs bearing sparse projections arranged helically in the same phyllotaxis as the seed stalks. Involucre composed of sterile scales of Lepeophyllum type 10-11 mm long and 4-6 mm wide. Involucre scales with sparse trichomes. Polysperm axis extending beyond involucre as short stalk up to 5 mm long. Seeds of Samaropsis synensis (Dombrovskaya) comb. nov., type
