- Diagnosis
- Growth ring boundaries indistinct to absent. Diffuse porous. Vessels exclusively solitary.
Perforation plates exclusively scalariform, usually with fewer than 20 bars. Vesselray
parenchyma pits scalariform with reduced borders. Fibers with distinctly bordered
pits in tangential and radial walls. Rays uni- to locally biseriate, heterocellular composed
of procumbent cells in biseriate portions and upright cells in the uniseriate extensions
of biseriate rays, uniseriate rays composed of upright cells. Axial parenchyma scarce
to absent.
