- Diagnosis
- Growth rings absent or indistinct, wood diffuse porous. Vessels solitary
and in radial pairs, mean tangential diameter 100–150 μm, perforations simple; intervessel pits alternate; ray-vessel parenchyma pits variable within individual cells, similar in size and shape to intervessel pits to enlarged. Fibers non-septate. Axial parenchyma scanty paratracheal and diffuse-in-aggregates. Rays non-storied, 1–10-seriate, composed of procumbent body ray cells, tile cells of the Pterospermum type, and one row of square to upright marginal cells, tallest rays >2 mm. Pith parenchymatous.
