Diagnosis
Substantial tree trunks; pith, broad, heterocellular with sclereid cells; sclereid cells comprise ‘nest-like’ zones attached to the adaxial surface of departing leaf traces; cauline bundles, extremely numerous (typically about 100) around the pith circumference, mesarch, and non-sympodial; leaf traces, helically-arranged, locally paired, and occluded by parenchyma at the first tree ring boundary; marked tree rings.
