- Hypanthium deep, cupshaped with six to eight distinct longitudinal ridges and two bractlike structures fused to the basal part. Perianth composed of about 12 tepals in at least two series on the rim of the floral cup. Androecium consisting of approximately 30-40 densely crowded stamens in three or four series arranged inside the perianth on the rim of the floral cup; innermost parts of androecium staminodial; apical connective expansion triangular,
bent inward over the anther. Gynoecium composed of numerous carpels borne in several series on the inner surface of the hypanthium. Indumentum of densely spaced, simple, and stiff hairs on outer surface of the floral cup and abaxial surface of tepals. Secretory cells numerous on hypanthial cup, adaxial surfaces of tepals, connective tissue of stamens, staminodes, and carpels.
