Diagnosis
Seeds ovate in longitudinal outline, with rounded to somewhat mucronate base and mucronate apex. Seed coat comprising a sarcotesta and a sclerotesta. Cuticle of outer epidermis very thin. Cells of outer epidermis mostly short, rarely elongated tetra- to polygonal; anticlinal walls straight; periclinal walls smooth; stomata lacking. Nucellar cells elongated, tetra- to pentagonal, with rounded corners. Megaspore membrane comprising a patterned layer and a foot layer. Patterned layer composed of bacula arranged perpendicularly to obliquely to the foot layer, branching and interconnecting to forma network. Inner surface of foot layer with vermicular sculpturing.
