Diagnosis
Branchlets perennial and annual, pinnately branched. Long perennial shoots 3—5 mm in diamentre, with spirally arranged, imbricate, falcate, fl eshy, sessile, decurrent leaves, 4—5 mm long, 1,5 mm wide, with triangular incurved acute apex. Free upper parts of leaves 2—3 mm long, triangular or quadrangular in cross section, more or less keeled, diverging from the shoot at angle about 40°. Short perennial shoots 1—1,5 cm long and 2—2,5 mm in diameter, have similar leaves, but smaller (2—3 мм long and 1,5 wide) and more closely disposed. Ultimate annual shoots 5—12 cm long and 0,6—1 cm wide, sometimes branched, with helical or distichous subulate or falcate leaves with acute incurved apex and decurrent base, more or less keeled, quadrangular in cross section, 5—10 mm long, 0,7—1 mm wide, diverging from the shoot at angle 30—50°. Seed cones terminal, subglobular, 14 mm long, 10 mm in diameter, on erect peduncle covered with scale-like acute leaves, consisting of 24—28 spirally arranged, imbricate, woody scales. They rhomboid, 6 mm long, 4 mm wide, with cuneate narrowed base and triangularrounded apex with crenate margin. In central part of external surface of scale there is free triangular, acute recurved apex, 1,5 mm long and 2,5 mm wide.
