- Secondary xylem of the morphogenus Ornoxylon
FELIX emend. SÜSS with a wood structure
of the stem, growth zones distinct, ring-porous,
pore ring 3-seriate, vessels arranged mostly
solitary and in radial pairs, radial diameter on
an average of 400 μm, with radial oval outlines,
latewood vessels small, arranged sparsely solitary
and in radial multiples up to six, length of
vessel members on an average 345 μm, perforation
plates simple, intervessel pits minute and
narrow arranged, ground tissue of the wood
libriform fibres, axial parenchyma paratracheal
vasicentrically, in one up to two rows around
the vessels, rays 1–4 cells wide, up to 27 cells
high, mostly 2–15 cells high, mostly slight heterogenous,
middle cells circular in tangential
view.
