Diagnosis
Pinnules with a midrib projecting from the underside and containing the bar-shaped vascular strand. Synangia apparently completely sessile on the pinnules, with no receptacular tissue, borne on the underside of the pinnules in a single row on either side of the midrib, in association with the lateral veins, 2.5–4.0 mm long and 1.5 mm in diam., composed of four sporangia except at the tips of the pinnules, where synangia of three sporangia occur. Sporangia elongate, tapering gradually to a fine point, united basally to each other and to a central column which extends approximately one-third the length of the synangium. Central column composed of parenchorea and fibers, disposed in the shape of a cylinder with four lobes. Parenchyma extended to the sporangial cavities. Outer sporangium walls uniformly two to three cells thick, apparently uniform histologically; outer surface thickly covered with uniseriate hairs. The inner sporangium walls uniseriate and of a uniform radial dimension. Microspores 80–95 µm, with a distinct trilete laesura and verrucate robust ornamentation (Verrucosisporites Ibrahim).
