Diagnosis
Secondary xylem of the morphogenus Primoginkgoxylon SÜSS, RÖSSLER, BOPPRÉ & FISCHER with the wood structure of stem, growth layers indistinct, early wood taking up all of the growth layer, growth boundaries marked only of one to two radial flattened tracheids, in transverse section rows of differently large tracheids lie side by side, tracheid diameter circular, on an average 80 μm, walls 3–15 μm thick, with helical thickenings, crystals in tracheids numerously present, bordered pits on radial tracheid walls abietoid, closely arranged in one or two rows, if in two rows alternately, crystalidioblasts numerous, rays 1(–3) seriate, up to 27, mostly 2–11 cells high, cells roundish, on an average 29 μm in diameter, crossfield with 1–3 small pits, between ray cells and longitudinal tracheid walls intercellular spaces.
