- Diagnosis
- Broad leafy articulated stem, with strongly striated internodes.
Large foliar sheaths, totally adpressed to the stem, overlying all
internodal area or nearly its entire length, and laterally opened (or
split) expanding outward from the stem margins to form 10–14
lanceolate, strong, rigid, curved and relatively short lateral leaflets;
foliar sheaths displaying 15–20 strong longitudinal ribs, extended
up to the apices of the leaflets into the form of midribs; longitudinal
ribs provided with a conspicuous central strand.
