- Diagnosis
- Leaf simple, narrowly elliptic serrate. Leaf apex acute, base
narrow acute to acute. Petiole short and robust. Serration occurring in
the upper two thirds of leaf margin. Each tooth rounded, bearing
papilla, basal and apical sides convex. Venation pinnate, festooned
semicraspedodromous, midrib robust. Leaf coriaceous, hypostomatic with
resin bodies. Adaxial cuticle ofmedium thicknesswith isodiametric, polygonal
ordinary cells with straight to slightly wavy anticlinal walls. External
surface of adaxial cuticle slightlywavy. Abaxial cuticle ofmedium thickness
bearing isodiametric, polygonal ordinary cells with straight to slightly wavy
anticlinal walls. Stomata of variable type, predominantly laterocytic/
laterocyclocytic, stephanocytic-bicyclic, and amphibrachyparacytic, and
less frequently brachyparacytic and holoparacytic with irregularly occurring
T-shaped thickenings of the internal cuticle at the poles; externally
surrounded by stomatal rims. Abaxial cuticle externally striate, striations
either radial around stomata, or irregular.
