- Diagnosis
- Undifferentiated thalloid organism; thallus N1.5 cm
in diameter, crust-like, lacking well-defined outer margins; thallus
plectenchymatous or pseudoparenchymatous, up to 15 cells high; cells
arranged into (regular) vertical files, and forming a pattern of
congruently superimposed horizontal sheets; individual cells discoid
to more or less isodiametric, polygonal in surface view, up to 60 μm
wide; vertical cell walls prominent, apparently composed of several
wall layers; horizontal cell walls delicate, single-layered.
