- Diagnosis
- Leaf very narrow elliptic, toothed, teeth absent from basal third of leaf. Stomates mostly
aligned parallel to long axis of leaf. Cuticle very thick, in region of subsidiary cells
longitudinally rugulate, and over normal abaxial epidermal cells bumpy. Inner, abaxial
cuticle surface markedly granular. Adaxial surface with some development of ropy striations,
particularly over veins, epidermal cells small, thick-walled. Trichome bases on both surfaces,
usually associated with two to four epidermal cells.
