Diagnosis
Coniferous wood with clear annual growth rings, tracheids polygonal and the early wood tracheids much wider than late wood tracheids. Pits in the radial walls of the early wood tracheids in a single or double vertical row, crassulae sometimes present. Wood parenchyma with up to 6 μm thick and pitted horizontal walls. Rays homocellular, mostly uniseriate, but also biseriate, the horizontal walls are smooth and occasionally pitted, the tangential walls are smooth and also up to 5 μm thick and pitted, Indentures are present. Cross-field pits cupressoid and 2 to 3 in one cross field.
