- Diagnosis
- Thallus commonly subcylindrical, variably tapered, up to 2 cm long with domical larger end up to 3 mm in diameter; forked thalli less common. Medulla contains numerous longitudinal, sinuous tubes giving rise irregularly throughout length to narrower radial tubes. Radials vary in angle of divergence but become perpendicular to exterior in dense cortex and end in surface pores. Longitudinal tubes highly variable in number of radial offshoots; branching of radial tubes uncommon and nonhierarchical.
