- Diagnosis
- Secondary fertile shoot 7–8 mm long 3 3 mm in diameter, elliptical in longitudinal section. Pith and cortex of isodiametric parenchymatous cells. Scales numerous (typically 40–50) and apparently divisible into three categories according to relative frequency and shape in transverse section: (1) numerous, triangular or crescentic; (2) few, helmet shaped; (3) few, irregular, possibly senescent.
