  Dorofeev (in Bot. Zhurn. 65: 308. 1980) incorrectly designated 'holotype' for Azolla pseudopinnata P. Nikit. ex Dorof. instead of neotype; the species was validated in 1955 on the basis of fossil material from the Tortonian (Maeotic) sediments of Odesa region (Ukraine), but very neotype come from the Pliocene sediments of Voronezh region (Russian Federation).
