Diagnosis
Leaf with a short petiole stout and narrowly sulcate, base rounded or subtruncate, apex acuminate; leaf shape quadrangularoblong venation semicraspedodromous, midvein stout, lateral veins in 3–6 pairs, anastomosing near the margin, 2, 4 or 6 strong and predominant marginal lateral spines, some lateral veins projecting beyond the spine apex, margin thickened with a sclerenchyma strand. Leaf cuticles with cyclocytic or distinctive amphicyclocytic (tricyclic) stomata (giant stomata).
