- Diagnosis
- Leaves broadly ovate, unlobed, with cordate, slightly asymmetrical base and broadly acute apex, 14—17 cm in length and 8-16 cm in breadth. Margin dentate; teeth large, triangular, more or less acute, widely spaced, separated by broad and shallow sinuses. Petiole swollen at the base, reaching a length of 5 cm. Venation pinnate, craspedodromous. Secondaries arise alternately or sub-opposite, 6—8 pairs, slightly curved, given of at an angle of 40—50°. The lowest pair of secondary veins attached to midrib at a wider angle; from the under side of each 7—8 branches pass outwards. Two next pairs are the longest and give off a few basiscopic branches in distal part. Basal veins arise at a height of a few millimetres above the lower edge of the lamina. Below the basal veins there is one pair of slender curved infrabasal veins. Tertiary veins at right-angles to the secondaries, often forking, usually slightly curved.
