- Female inflorescence. This species is founded on a compound catkin, not completely represented, which possesses a nearly straight axis, 5*5 cm. long, 4 5 mm. wide at the base and tapers away to about 1 mm. near the apex. It is striated longitudinally and the upper end is flexuous. The ovulate buds are situated nearly opposite on the axis and are arranged distichously. They are sessile and rest in the axils of long whip-like bracts. The largest ovulate bud is about 5 mm. long and 2 mm. wide. One of the buds exhibits a protruding process at its apex which may represent something equivalent to a stigma. The pendulous linear bracts possess single veins and although they are all incomplete the longest of them measures 4.1 cm. The width of these bracts varies from "75 mm. to 1 mm.
