When originally published based on illegitimate homonym, Peucedanum dubium R. Ludw. (in Palaeontographica 5(4): 103. Dec 1857 non Peucedanum dubium Ledeb., Fl. Altaica 1: 310. 1829), Kirchheimer, being unaware of the homonymy, nomenclaturally superfluously included into synonymy Brasenia pliocaenica Kinkelin (in Engelh. & Kinkelin in Abh. Senckenberg. Naturf. Ges. 29(3): 251. 15 Nov 1908), the species name which ought to be taken up for these fossils.
