Harsh and Sharma (1995) described fossil woods resembling those of Lagerstroemia floribunda Jack, 1820 (Family: Lythraceae) as Lagerstroemioxylon floribunda (misspelled as “Lagerstromioxylon”) from Tertiary sediments of Rajasthan, India without designating its type. This species name was, therefore, not validly published.

Originally given as "Lagerstromioxylon floribunda Jack.", and referred to the extant species Lagerstroemia floribunda Jack (Malayan Misc. 1: v. 38. 1820).
