Diagnosis
Walls robust without perforations or large arcuate folds; spore-like cells do not generally form geometrically regular packets as the size of individual spore-bodies may vary somewhat within the packet; contacts and walls between individual spore-bodies may appear indistinct or characterized by darker zones, rather than discrete walls; packet margins always convex in plan view, never collapsed centripetally; surface mottled due to the granulate nature of the wall laminae; granules 0.4–0.7 μm in diameter appear to be an integral part of the wall construction, not applied externally as sculpture.
