- Diagnosis
- Walls robust without perforations or large arcuate folds;
spore-like cells do not generally form geometrically regular packets as
the size of individual spore-bodies may vary somewhat within the packet;
contacts and walls between individual spore-bodies may appear indistinct
or characterized by darker zones, rather than discrete walls;
packet margins always convex in plan view, never collapsed centripetally;
surface mottled due to the granulate nature of the wall laminae;
granules 0.4–0.7 μm in diameter appear to be an integral part of the
wall construction, not applied externally as sculpture.
