- Diagnosis
- Heterosporous sphenopsid cones. Long-shield and lanceolate bracts join together. Umbrella-type of foliar collars at the base of bracts. Sporangiophores simple, attached only in axils of sterile bracts, bearing a single sporangium. Sporangiophores do not possess a long-shield shape. Microspores are trilete and laevigate with a pseudosaccus-like layer sometimes enveloping microspores. Trilete laevigate megaspores.
