Diagnosis
Branching system consisting of "main" axis, 3.5-4.5 mm wide with laterals (second order axes) 2 mm wide, arranged in complex spiral. Successive laterals 20-25 mm apart, branching angle 35 °. Smaller appendages (third order axes) with circular xylem strands (120 um diam) borne proximally (=?precocious ultimate appendages). Four-ribbed xylem column of main axis 1.5 mm wide with metaxylem tracheids 12-50 um in diameter, protoxylem elements 8-22 um wide. Xylem strand of laterals, V-shaped, 0.5-0.7 mm broad tangentially. In main axis and laterals, parenchyma cells of the inner cortex up to 78 um wide; outer cortex comprising tapering elements (18-22 um wide) and thicker walled cells.
