- Centripetal and centrifugal polyxylic
stem covered by persistent rhomboidal foliar
bases and smaller cataphylls in cycles. Central
parenchymatous pith with idioblasts, mucilage
canals, and arcs of medullary vascular bundles.
Cylindrical vascular system made by three rings
of centrifugal secondary xylem and phloem,
endarch or mesarch primary xylem and relictual
centripetal secondary bundles. Parenchymatous
cortex with extrafascicular concentric bundles
and leaf traces with an incomplete girdling
configuration. Bulbils present along the stem.
