Diagnosis
Plants with isotomously branched smooth axes in basal and medial regions. Sterile axes branch several times, with successive sister branches extending parallel. Sporangia borne on main and lateral branches in at least four levels of branching. Some branchlets (thin lateral branches), distally, depart from the major axes in more distal, often fertile regions. Pear-shaped sporangia (sporangial body subcircular to reniform) occur laterally and spirally, along main axes, ranging from sparse and widely spaced to more densely spaced, becoming more densely aggregated in the terminal regions. Sporangia borne on upright stalks, which widen at the connection with sporangium resulting in a gradually curved junction. Dehiscence completely along sporangial convex margin, forming two equal valves. Dehiscence margin not thickened. Plant homosporous.
