Diagnosis

Coniferous wood with annual growth rings, the early and late wood not very different; Tracheids round to polygonal in cross section. Pits in the radial walls of the early wood Tracheids only in a single row, crassulae absent, tangential bordered pits often observable. Horizontal walls of axial parenchyma mostly pitted with knots up to 7 μm. Rays homocellular and uniseriate, the horizontal walls are thick and mostly pitted, the tangential walls are smooth and thin, Indentures are absent. Cross field pits cupressoid; one to two, occasionally up to four in one cross field.
