Diagnosis
Secondary xylem of the morphogenus Primoginkgoxylon SÜSS, RÖSSLER, BOPPRÉ & FISCHER with a wood structure of stem, growth layers indistinct, early wood taking up nearly all of the growth layers, late wood composed of 4–5 radial flattened tracheids, in transverse section rows of various large tracheids directly lie side by side, tracheids rectangular elongated in tangential direction, on an average 100 μm extensive, walls 5–25 μm thick, with helical thickenings, crystals frequently present, bordered pits on radial tracheid walls abietoid, closely arranged in one row, crystalidioblasts present, ca 35/mm2, rays 1–2(–3) seriate, 1–27, mostly 2–13 cells high, cells vertical oval, on an average 29 μm high, cross-field with one cupressoid pit.
