Schlosser (in Abhandl. Bayer. Akad. Wiss. 30(7): 75, 161. 1925) was in error in placing the name Schafhaeutlia kressenbergensis Naegeli in the synonymy of Teredo tournali Leymerie. Possibly the mistake arose because the figure of another Schafhaeutlia, which Schafhäutl illustrated (pl. 1, fig. 1) but did not mention in his text, resembles a piece of wood bored by teredinids.
